From Wombling to getting creative, from history to getting in a right jam-you are spoilt for choice

What a Saturday we have in store for you this week....

We are kicking off our new weekly Plough Lane Walk and Talk this Saturday 24th September at 10.30am. Come and join us for a free and fun walk and talk with the local community in partnership with AFC Wimbledon Foundation. Everybody is welcome - whatever age and ability - you can walk for as short or as long as you like and pets are welcome. No booking or reservations and it is free - just turn up. Join our friendly group by the Womble bench (where else) outside the AFC Wimbledon stadium on Plough Lane - between gates 2 and 3 and next to the 493 bus stop at 10.30am - and we will go wombling free - walking up and down the lovely Wandle River...and afterwards enjoy a free cuppa and a cupcake to celebrate our Plough Lane launch...goal!

As an extra bonus our Plough Lane Walkers and Talkers plan to meet up with our lovely Colliers Wood Walk and Talk group for a wander around the Wandle Meadow Nature Park. So you can also join in the walk and talk fun by meeting outside Colliers Wood tube station at 10.30am.

Or get creative at our Mitcham Walk and Talk at 10.30am from the courtyard of Canons House and Grounds. As part of the Wandle Fortnight, local textile artist and printmaker Gillian from Crafty Pint Workshops will be joining to bring us an art activity (suitable for all ability levels) after the walk. We will collect natural materials on our walk to inspire creation of textile souvenirs to take home, or to make into a Walk and Talk banner. We will use simple sewing, printing and mark making to create hankie sized textiles celebrating our favourite things about Walk and Talk and the surroundings of Canons House.

Or come along to our Morden Walk and Talk, where we are going on a History Quiz Walk with the lovely Sarah from Merton Heritage Service. Anyone who’s been on previous walks with Sarah knows that she is a fountain of knowledge and has a real talent for bringing our rich history to life! The Morden Walk and Talk meets at 10.30am at the Picnic Area (next to The Snuff Mill/Stable Yard) in Morden Hall Park.

Meanwhile from the cafe in Wimbledon Park at 10.30am we are going to enjoy a walk through the lovely green space to Southfields Abundance - where good local things are done with good local fruit!
