About The Walk and Talk Movement
The Walk and Talk Movement’s mission is to provide free and fun weekly community walk and talks in local green spaces every Saturday at 10.30am…because health and happiness can be a walk in the park.
We already run five very successful Walk and Talks across Merton.
Over the last twelve months we have walked and talked with more than 3,500 participants, with more than 650 regular participants joining us. Together we have enjoyed more than 150 walk and talks, walked more than 10,000km and enjoyed thousands of conversations. Now we want to grow our impact.
Our free, fun, friendly and inclusive walk and talks give all generations the chance to take a stroll, chat, meet friends, make new ones and help others. We also get involved with fun local community activities.
We are making a real difference to people's health and wellbeing every week.
We get people outdoors, active and enjoying green spaces together. We reduce isolation and loneliness by creating a friendly, safe and inclusive environment to develop important, growing and lasting social impact. We build a sense of community, helping people feel connected and valued, promoting equality and inclusion, connecting multi-generations and giving people a real sense of wellbeing and improved confidence. We put smiles on faces every week.

About The Role
Our Merton Walk and Talk Manager will work closely with our Directors to run and manage our walk and talks across the London Borough of Merton.
This involves:
Ensuring our weekly walk and talks run smoothly and that we maintain a high quality of varied and interesting walk and talks and local activities across the Borough.
Ensuring we maximise participation through marketing and outreach with local residents, stakeholders and organisations.
Recruiting to, managing and supporting our growing network of volunteers.
Regular reporting on walk and talk numbers, activities, impact and evaluation.
The Walk and Talk Movement will help support our Merton Manager with training, materials, communications, connections, advice and referrals.
This role will be an initial 12 month self-employed contractor role starting as soon as possible, based on 15 hours a week with flexible working hours. Please note: At least one Saturday morning a month will be important to oversee the quality of our walk and talks.
This role will be paid at a rate of £1,000 per month.
Central full-time roles could also be available in the medium-term as we grow across London and the UK.
About You
An enthusiastic, community orientated individual, with drive, commitment and a passion to help people and make a real difference.
Living in or near the Merton area with a good knowledge of the Borough and an ability to engage with a strong local community network.
Excellent management, organisational and communication skills with the willingness to be flexible and work under your own initiative.
A love of people and getting to know new people. The passion to put smiles on as many faces as possible!
