Some great community events you don't want to miss...

"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." I have been pondering these moving words from Coretta Scott King, civil rights leader and wife of Martin Luther King, as I sat down to write this blog. Engaging with, and supporting, our local community is so important to us all - even if we don't sometimes realise it or appreciate it. Whether it be a smile and chat to a neighbour, a walk and talk together on a Saturday, helping out a local organisation, getting involved in a local activity, enjoying a local event together - it can make the world of difference to you and the people around you. That is why The Walk and Talk Movement loves to celebrate great community organisations and activities...and we wanted to tell you about some fantastic community initiatives coming up soon that you don't want to miss. The much loved Wimbledon and Putney Commons Open Day returns on Sunday 10th September 2023 from 10.30am to 5.30pm near the Ranger's Office on Wimbledon Common (SW19 5NR). It is a great family fun day out. Attractions include Birds of Prey, Riding Displays, Pedal Power vs Parkour, Storm in a Teacup Circus - Fire Display, Tug of War - Kids v Tractors, Doggy Musical Mats and the Wacky Dog Show! What a day.
